Nassau Farm and the Swartland landscape

Die Droom·The Dream

Hartklop began as a dream — held by the late Bennie Lambrechts and his sister-in-law Anet, and spoken over this land long before a single stone was laid.

Bennie Lambrechts was a Swartlander in the deepest sense — rooted in the land, known to his community, and possessed of a quiet, persistent vision: that Nassau Farm could become a place where people gathered for the moments that matter most.

He did not live to see that dream open its doors. But in November 2023, when Anet and Gawie Lambrechts — Bennie's brother — cut the golden ribbon at the entrance to Hartklop Wedding & Events Venue, every person present understood what was being celebrated.

"This was one of Bennie's dreams," Anet said. "His heart still beats warm here on the farm."

Die Naam

The Name

Hartklop is the Afrikaans word for heartbeat. The name was chosen deliberately — because a heartbeat is faithful, involuntary, and continuous. It does not stop when the person leaves the room.

In the logo, an EKG line traces through the name — the same line that monitors a heart in a hospital, and the same line that marks the rhythm of a life well lived. The cross at the centre of the mark speaks of the family's faith: present and foundational, never imposed.

Every wedding that takes place here adds its own line to that trace. Every vow spoken under these skies is another heartbeat on the farm.

Die Mense

The People

Anet Lambrechts knows something about resilience. Having faced and overcome cancer, she brought that same tenacity to the task of turning Bennie's dream into a real place, with real stone walls and real light falling through real windows onto the Swartland at dusk.

Gawie, Bennie's younger brother, stands alongside her — in the day-to-day running of the venue, in the welcome extended to every couple who enquires, and in the quiet pride that comes from building something that honours a brother's legacy.

"Hartklop is a tribute to the journey of the Lambrechts family," Anet says. "We had our share of challenges, but the dream held. This place is built on that."

The venue opened in November 2023 with a gathering of family, friends, and community — the kind of evening Bennie would have enjoyed. There was food that tasted like the Swartland, music from Liam Culbert, and a dance floor that Anet and Gawie opened together with grateful hearts.

Since then, Hartklop has held its first weddings, its first private events, its first mornings of a couple waking up to the view. Each one is a new line in the trace.
